GNU General Public License (GPL) Version 2

Description: OpenSS7 License GNU General Public License (GPL) Version 2.

OpenSS7 software previosly licensed under the GNU General Public License (GPL) Version 2 can also be licensed under the OpenSS7 Commercial License.

Software that was previously licensed under GPLv2 included all OpenSS7 STREAMS modules and protocol stack components, utilities, libraries and applications (with the exception of test and validation suites) prior to the openss7-0.9.2.G release. Starting with the openss7-0.9.2.G release, all components previously released under GPLv2 have been release under AGPLv3 and GPLv3 licenses. Previously packages were released under GPLv2 simply because the GPLv3 and AGPLv3 licenses did not yet exist.

Prior to the openss7-0.9.2.G public release, OpenSS7 provided most of its public release software under the GNU General Public License (GPL) Version 2 as provided in the listing below, or under separate OpenSS7 Commercial License. This model permitted users to freely use the OpenSS7 stacks, but restricted combining the OpenSS7 stacks with proprietary software unless commercially licensed. Providing a commercial license in addition to the GNU General Public License Version 2 provided the OpenSS7 project with a source of funding to continue its development work.

However, beginning with the openss7-0.9.2.G public release, OpenSS7 provides public release software previously licensed exclusively under the GPLv2 under the new AGPLv3 and GPLv3 licenses. It is our belief that the newer GPL licenses better suit the dual purposes of providing a truly Free Open Source Software release of OpenSS7 software while continuing to provide commercial ventures with the opportunity to license OpenSS7 software under our commercial license.

When a piece of OpenSS7 source code was licensed under the GPLv2, you would see a Copyright Notice such as the following listing:
